The Korea Football Association announced on the 27th that it has appointed German coach Jurgen Klinsmann (58) as the new head coach of the national soccer team.
The contract period with Klinsmann is about three years and five months from this March to the 2026 North and Central American World Cup finals. The annual salary will not be disclosed according to the agreement between the two sides.
The coaches who will assist Klinsmann will soon be discussed and confirmed by head coach and the Korea Football Association. What is notable is that contract clause indicates that he should live in Korea during his tenure.
Klinsmann will arrive in Korea sometime next week and begin his full-fledged career ascoach of the Korean national team. His debut will be friendly match against Colombia in Ulsan on the 24th of next month.
After signing the contract, Klinsmann said in a greeting to the Korea Football Association, "I'm very happy and honored to becoach of the Korean national soccer team. I’m well aware that the Korean national team is constantly developing and performing over a long period of time. From Guus Hiddink to Paulo Bento, I am honored to succeed the great coaches who have led the Korean national team. I will do my best to achieve successful results in the upcoming Asian Cup and 2026 World Cup," he said.
Michael Muller, chairman of the Korea Football Association, is scheduled to hold a press conference on the appointment of Klinsmann at the soccer center at 2 p.m. on the 28th.
