Germany will permanently end nuclear power generation on the 15th (Sat) by separating the power grid of the remaining three nuclear power plants.
Germany announced its withdrawal from nuclear power in 2002.Under Angela Merkel’s leadership, the movement to exit nuclear power has accelerated since the Fukushima nuclear crisis in 2011.
The timing of the shutdown of the three nuclear power plants was originally scheduled for the end of 2022.It was postponed due to the suspension of Russian gas supplies.
Despite the energy crisis, Germany plans to separate three nuclear power plants from the power grid, including the southernIasr2, the southwestern Neckarwestheim, and the northwest Emsland, which supplied 6% of Germany's total energy last year.
Germany's share of nuclear power generation in 1997 was 30.8%.
The German government emphasized that the energy crisis is under control by securing gas reserves and establishing LNG infrastructure as a measure to stabilize energy supply and demand following the suspension of the Russian gas supply.
Furthermore, in response to energy supply instability caused by Russian gas and the disposal of nuclear power generation, the proportion of renewable energy will be increased to 80% by 2030.
To this end, Olaf Scholz suggests installing four to five wind turbines every day for years to come. However, it would be difficult to achieve the goal considering the current speed, which installed only 551 wind turbineslast year.
